INTRODUCTION TO CENTRAL ASIA
The course is designed as a general interdisciplinary introduction to the societies and cultures of the contemporary Muslim successor states of former Soviet Central Asia, Northwestern China (Xinjiang) and the adjacent areas of Iran and Afghanistan, i.e. Turkistan.

JEWISH CULTURAL IDENTITY IN RUSSIA
The course will provide a short general overview of the history of Jews in Russia prior to the revolution of 1917. The main emphasis will be on the Jewish identity in the former Soviet Union, as well as in the contemporary Post-Soviet Russia.

Introductory course designed to develop basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and to introduce the fundamentals of Czech grammar.
