Classical Studies

Classical Studies engages you with the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and their influence on western and world civilization from their beginnings until today. The Classical Studies Program offers language courses in Latin and ancient Greek from beginning to advanced. We also offer interdisciplinary courses on the ancient city, myths of the Greeks and Romans, their dramas, their epics, religious beliefs, history, political thought, philosophy and more. What's more, you can study archaeology and art history abroad, or become a Latin teacher! The classical languages prepare you better than any other field of study for excellent scores on such standardized exams as the LSAT and GRE. A Classical Studies minor or Latin minor is available through WLC, and an independent interdisciplinary major through the LAS College.
