一个大厨，老了的大厨，饱尝了人生的酸甜苦辣，丧偶独居，子女们不能每日陪伴在其身边。每天他都像在准备一桌宫廷盛筵一样准备着给子女回家吃的晚饭，但是往往白费心机。生活上孤独，特别是同龄的、同样生为厨师的朋友突然的去世，无不在打击着他。看上去老人的人生已经走入落幕。老人还发觉自己失去了厨师所必需的味觉，人生彻底走进低谷。子女们发现老爸饭菜或甜或太咸时发现老爸的确老了，并且开始考虑老爸的晚年生活。他们还发现父亲自己悄悄去医院体检身体并且不告诉他们体检结果。这时仿佛看见一个孤独老人在独自走向人生终点。电影就是电影，最后结局很叫人以外.....

The film tells the story of a retired and widowed Chinese master chef Chu (Sihung Lung) and his family living in modern day Taipei, Taiwan. At the start of the film, he lives with his three attractive daughters, all of whom are unattached. As the film progresses, each daughter encounters new men. When these new relationships blossom, the stereotypes are broken and the living situation within the family changes. The film concludes with a surprise ending involving the chef himself.[source]
