... open immediate professional opportunities for yourself after graduation?

...equip yourself to be more competitive in the new global marketplace?

... begin leaning a language of critical need for international government agencies and businesses?

...develop communication skills that enable you to engage the world's fastest growing economy?

ISU Summer Intensive Chinese courses are designed for students who have had no previous experience learning or speaking Chinese. Anyone from high school through graduate school who would like to get a start on or make further progress toward fluency is welcome to apply. Space is limited to only 15 students per class!

Through intensive coursework, ISU's first level summer courses take students from zero ability to basic communicative competence and familiarity with the writing system in a single semester. Students receive 10 semester hours for Chinese 101 and 102, which fulfills most university foreign language requirements.

When combined with coursework during the regular academic year, ISU's Summer Intensive Chinese courses provide a unique opportunity to accelerate the study of Chinese by enabling students to reach the proficiency level normally attained through two years of regular study in eleven months.
