Elizabeth RectanusAcademic AdvisorElizabeth Rectanus is academic advisor for the department of World Languages & Cultures. She started along the path of foreign language teacher as an enthusiastic student of French when she was an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi. She earned a J.D. at Ole Miss and worked as a lawyer for her home state of Mississippi before leaving public policy administration and concentrating on foreign language teaching. After studying for two years in Germany, she earned the M.A. in German and French at Mississippi State University and continued graduate studies in both German and French at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Thanks to Wash U, she received a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship which took her to Munich, today her true home away from home. She also studied Italian in Florence, Italy, an experience she will never forget. Elizabeth has in the meantime instructed German and French at all levels (with the exception of middle school): elementary school German, high school French, as well as college German and French. She has been an academic advisor for five and one-half years and is most recently since 1997, an instructor of German at ISU. She wishes to thank all of her students and advisees, both past and present, for the great pleasure they give her and their continuing inspiration. Finally, Elizabeth loves the Netherlands! |
