Placement ExamsStudents entering Iowa State should always consult the department about the proper foreign language course in which to enroll. A placement exam helps identify a student's level of language competency in order to determine the academic course in which they should enroll. The department offers several options for placement exams: On-Line Placement Exams in French, German, Russian and SpanishThese on-line exams are available to anyone interested in obtaining information on their language competency, e.g., ISU students, prospective students, high school students, even K-12 teachers. Placement Exams in ChineseThe department has available placement exams for students interested in determining their proficiency in Chinese. They are available in the Language Studies Resource Center, 3142 Pearson Hall, during operating hours. Upon completion of an exam, you receive a score that shows the level of language study most appropriate for you. Please record your results carefully.
