Retroactive Credit

Retroactive credit for 100-level foreign language study may be granted upon completion of an advanced sequence in that same language:

  • For retroactive credit for 101: Take and pass 102 with a C- or above.
  • For retroactive credit for 101 and 102: Take a higher-level two-semester language sequence, e.g., Span 201; 202 or 301; 303.
  • You must earn a C- or above in both courses.

After you complete your sequence of classes and receive your grade, stop in the Department of World Languages and Cultures office (3102 Pearson) and complete the retroactive credit form so it can be processed and sent to the Registrar's office.

Credit for 201 and/or 202 is available by completion of coursework or through a CLEP exam (Spanish or French) or a departmental Exam for Credit (Chinese, German, Latin, Russian).

See Exams for Credit for more information.
