Educational Achievement Award

Objective

To recognize professional achievement in foreign language and/or international education.

Eligibility

Any person who has an undergraduate degree from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Iowa State University, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is eligible to be nominated for this award.

Number of Awards

One per year, although the Department reserves the right to not select any recipient in a given year. Travel assistance up to $200 may be made at the discretion of the department chair for attendance at appropriate honors and awards events.

Criteria

Selection is based on national or international recognition for his/her professional accomplishments.  The positive impact of his/her contributions should be made clear in the letters of support.

Submit

1. Completed and signed nomination form
2. Letter of nomination documenting service and/or achievements that includes a
   paragraph stating the most important aspects of the candidate’s life or career that
   qualify him or her for this award.
3. Three letters of support documenting achievements.  This should be from individuals
   familiar with the accomplishments of the person  nominated.
4. A current resumé is requested, but not required.
5. Head-and-shoulders photograph of the individual suitable for publishing.
