Aili Mu

Assistant Professor

I am an assistant professor of Chinese in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. I got my Ph.D in comparative literature from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. I have been teaching undergraduate courses in both Chinese language and culture. My special areas of interest are Chinese aesthetic theory, contemporary Chinese popular culture and cinema. My current research project is a study of Mao Zedong’s aesthetic ideology and its function in Chinese cultural life, especially its relevance to contemporary Chinese cultural practice.
