A Whole New Mind for a Flat World

Dr. Richard M. Felder, a Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University, recently published a column entitled "A Whole New Mind for a Flat World," that argues that "to get and keep jobs in a world of growing globalization ... engineering graduates in developed countries will need knowledge and skills that are not addressed in today's engineering curriculum." Employment and Internships @ the US Embassy!

Spend a summer working in a U.S. Embassy in one of 90 locations throughout the world! The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program is a paid internship program and is in need of applicants! The Program provides college students the opportunity to live and work in a paid internship at an American Embassy overseas. Through work assignments participants learn various aspects of international trade, trade policy, international relations, diplomacy, regional and cultural considerations, etc. [details]

Young Americans are taking years abroad in greater numbers. IIE statistics indicate that more students are studying abroad than ever and rough estimates from 2002-2003 have assessed that almost 35,000 young Americans worked internationally in formal or volunteer working positions with major organizations. The advantages of foreign experience lead beyond a greater world view and cultural sensitivity to the cultivation of entrepreneurship, resourcefulness and independence. [more]
